The decisions that make a support wearable

Almost every orthopaedic support on the market works in a laboratory. Far fewer survive contact with a working day. These are the material and construction choices we make so that a Vitella support is still on at six in the evening.

Six things we build in

Each of these exists because a specific failure mode kept showing up in products people stopped wearing.

  • Ortho-Flex splinting

    Bunion Corrector

    A flexible stay laminated between two fabric layers, running along the inside edge of the foot. Stiff enough across its width to guide the big toe into a straighter line, flexible enough along its length that the joint still bends when you walk. That combination is what makes a splint wearable inside a shoe rather than only in bed.

  • Hydrogel cushioning

    Arch Support Sleeve

    A gel pad seated directly under the medial arch. Gel deforms and recovers under repeated load, which is exactly what a flattening arch stops doing on its own — so the pad takes on the shock absorption the foot has lost, at the point in the step where it is lost.

  • Graduated compression knit

    Arch Support & Wrist Sleeve

    Knitted tighter through the zone that needs support and looser at the openings. An evenly tight sleeve digs in at the edges and cuts circulation; a graduated one holds the joint and lets the border sit flat on the skin.

  • High-recovery elastane

    Every knitted product

    Compression is only useful while the fabric still pulls back. We specify high-recovery elastane so the sleeve returns to shape after each wear and holds its fit through repeated washing, rather than going slack after a fortnight.

  • Adaptive one-size construction

    Every product

    Rather than shipping four sizes and getting the fit wrong three times, each product is built to shape itself to the wearer — stretch knits, adjustable loops and pads that settle into position. One size that adapts beats four that guess.

  • Serialised authenticity

    Every unit

    Each unit is labelled with its own cryptographically signed code, registered against its production batch before it leaves the factory. Verification is part of the product, not an afterthought.

Materials

What we insist on, across the range

  • Latex-free throughout

    No natural rubber latex in any Vitella product, so latex sensitivity is never a reason to avoid one.

  • Medical-grade silicone at skin contact

    Where silicone touches skin for hours at a time, we specify medical-grade material rather than general-purpose rubber.

  • Breathability treated as a requirement

    A support that traps sweat gets taken off. Knit structure and fibre choice are selected for moisture transport, not only for stretch.

  • Seamless where it matters

    Interior seams are the most common reason a sleeve is abandoned. Our knitted products are made in one piece wherever construction allows.

  • Washable, not disposable

    Every product is designed to be hand-washed and worn again for months. Nothing in the range is single-use.

  • Low profile by default

    If a support cannot be worn under a normal shoe or a shirt cuff, it will only get used at home. Thickness is a design constraint, not an afterthought.

Quality & compliance

How a specification becomes a finished unit

Design and manufacturing sit together in China, which is what makes the checks below practical rather than paperwork.

    Materials are specified, not accepted

    Yarn composition, elastane content and silicone grade are written into the spec for each product. Substituting a cheaper equivalent is a change that has to be approved, not a decision the line makes.

    Incoming and in-line checks

    Material batches are checked on arrival, and units are sampled during the run for dimensions, compression and finish. Seam position and edge finish get particular attention, because they are what make a support wearable for hours.

    Serialisation before dispatch

    No production run leaves without its codes minted and registered against the batch. Traceability is a step in manufacturing rather than a label added later.

Quality you cannot verify is just a claim

Careful material selection is worthless if the unit in someone's hand is a copy. That is why serialisation is part of the manufacturing process rather than a sticker added later.

Codes are minted per batch

Before a production run is labelled, we generate exactly as many signed codes as there are units, registered against that batch.

One code, one unit

Each label is applied to a single unit. No code is ever issued twice, and none is reused across runs.

The field reports back

Every customer check is recorded against the code. Duplicated labels concentrate scans on the same code, which is how we find them.
