Product safety
Intended use and cautions
Vitella supports are consumer orthopaedic aids. They are designed to make everyday activity more comfortable — not to diagnose, treat or cure anything. This page sets out what that means in practice.

What our products are for
Vitella supports provide compression, cushioning and positional support to the foot, wrist or hand. People typically use them for general comfort during activity, for the aching and fatigue that come with long hours standing or working, and to reduce rubbing and pressure at a specific point.
What they are not
They are not medical devices prescribed for a diagnosed condition, and nothing we publish should be read as a claim that they permanently correct a deformity, cure a condition, or replace treatment. A bunion splint, for example, offloads and repositions the toe while it is being worn — it does not remodel the joint.
Speak to a healthcare professional first if you have
- Diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, or any loss of sensation.
- Circulatory problems, deep vein thrombosis, or a history of blood clots.
- Broken skin, an open wound, an active infection or dermatitis.
- Pain, numbness or swelling that is severe, worsening, or came on suddenly.
- A diagnosed condition for which you are already being treated.
Compression garments in particular should be used with medical advice if you have reduced sensation or circulation, because the usual warning signs of a support being too tight may not reach you.
Stop using the product and seek advice if
- You develop tingling, numbness, pins and needles, or the area changes colour.
- The skin becomes irritated, broken, blistered or unusually warm.
- Pain increases while wearing the support, or afterwards.
- The support leaves deep marks, or feels tight enough to throb.
Sensible use
- Build up wear time gradually rather than starting with a full day.
- Fit the product as described on its product page — a support in the wrong position can concentrate pressure instead of spreading it.
- Keep it clean and dry; wash by hand and let it air-dry between uses.
- Replace it when the fabric has lost its stretch. A slack compression sleeve is no longer doing its job.
- Do not wear over broken skin, and do not share between people.
Children
Our products are designed for adults. Do not use them on children without advice from a healthcare professional.
Questions about fitting
If you are unsure whether a product suits your situation, ask us before you buy: info@vitella.net or via the contact page. We would rather talk you out of the wrong product than sell you one.
